About Cal Hewitt

Hi, I’m Cal Hewitt, the founder of Dream Told, a website that began as a personal journey to solve my struggles with insomnia. For as long as I can remember, sleep has been a challenge for me—something I had to fight for instead of something that came naturally. And it wasn’t just the sleepless nights that got to me. The toll it took on my life was even harder.

I was constantly moody, irritable, and short-tempered, especially in the mornings. But the more my sleep suffered, the more those moods bled into the rest of my day. It affected my relationships, my work, and my ability to enjoy life. Everything felt harder than it should have been. Something had to change.

The Search for Better Sleep

That’s when I made the decision to take control. I started researching sleep, determined to find out what was on the other side of this issue. What was keeping me up at night? What could I do differently? I dove deep into topics like dreaming, REM sleep, and the science behind restful sleep. I wanted to know what I could do to improve my quality of life, and the answer was always the same: it starts with better sleep.

That’s where Dream Told comes in. Launched almost two years ago, the website was my way of sharing everything I’ve learned—and continue to learn—about sleep and dreams. At first, it was more of a niche site, focused narrowly on certain aspects of sleep, but as time passed, I realized that my goal was broader. Sleep is something that affects us all, and my mission became clear: to help as many people as possible find their path to better sleep.

One of the biggest challenges I faced on this journey is that there’s so much conflicting information about sleep. If you’ve ever looked into sleep tips, you know what I mean. One expert says one thing; another says the opposite. Some sources swear by strict schedules, while others promote flexibility. So, how do you know what’s right?

I’ve come to accept that there may not be one “right” answer. In fact, I’ve adopted the 80/20 rule. Instead of searching for the perfect solution, I look for what’s mostly right—what works for most people, most of the time. I apply this philosophy to Dream Told because, let’s face it, we’re all different. What works for one person might not work for another, and that’s okay. My goal is to help you find what works for you, and that means offering a variety of solutions and tools to explore.

My Natural Approach to Sleep

For me, the solution wasn’t found in medication. I’ve tried that route before, and I didn’t like the way it made me feel. Instead, I’ve found success in natural sleep solutions—things that help create the right environment for restful sleep. And when I say “environment,” I’m talking about more than just the physical space.

Yes, having the right sleepwear and a comfortable bed is important. But I also believe in the power of creating the right mental environment. That’s where tools like binaural audio come in. By using sound to guide my brain into a more relaxed state, I’ve been able to improve the quality of my sleep without relying on chemicals or medications.

That’s not to say I’m completely opposed to supplements. In fact, I do use them occasionally, but always in small doses and for limited periods. I believe that the key to good sleep is balance, and that includes being mindful of what I put into my body.

Sharing My Journey Through Dream Told

Dream Told is my way of sharing what I’ve learned with others who are struggling with sleep issues. I write about my favorite tools and strategies for improving sleep, from the latest sleepwear innovations to external aids like binaural audio and sleep supplements. I’ve spent years testing different methods, and Dream Told is the place where I share the ones that have worked for me—and for others.

I also explore products that can help improve sleep, including many that are available on Amazon. My goal is to provide honest, research-backed recommendations that can help others make informed decisions about their sleep needs. After all, I’ve been dealing with insomnia for over 30 years, so I’ve had plenty of time to try out different approaches and figure out what works best.

Building a Community of Sleep Seekers

But Dream Told isn’t just about me. My vision for the website is much bigger. I hope that over time, it becomes a community—a place where people can come to learn about proper sleep habits, share their own experiences, and support each other in their quest for better sleep. That’s what I want Dream Told to be: a resource and a community for anyone who struggles with sleep, whether it’s due to insomnia like mine or simply a desire to improve the quality of their rest.

Sleep should take up about one-third of our lives. Think about that for a second. One-third! That’s a huge portion of our time, and yet so many of us struggle to get it right. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others find their path to better sleep. Dream Told is here to guide you, and I hope you’ll join me in this journey.

Educating and Inspiring

My approach with Dream Told is to focus on education. I believe that when people have the right information, they can make better choices for themselves. That’s why I work hard to provide content that is not only informative but also practical. I want you to walk away from Dream Told with real, actionable steps you can take to improve your sleep.

At the same time, I want to inspire you. Sleep doesn’t have to be a struggle forever. There are solutions out there, and I’ve dedicated myself to finding and sharing them. Whether you’re dealing with long-term insomnia or just looking for ways to get a more restful night’s sleep, Dream Told is here to help.

A Path Forward

As Dream Told continues to grow, I’m excited about the direction we’re headed. I’m committed to expanding the range of topics we cover, from deep dives into the science of REM sleep to practical guides on creating the perfect sleep environment. I’ll also be exploring new products and tools that can help improve your sleep, with a special focus on those available through Amazon.

Ultimately, my goal with Dream Told is simple: I want to make sure that everyone who visits the site leaves feeling better than when they arrived. Whether that means learning something new, finding a solution to a problem, or simply feeling more hopeful about the future of their sleep, I want to make sure that Dream Told is a positive, supportive place for everyone who struggles with sleep.
