Cookie Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
This policy explains how DreamTold uses cookies and similar technologies such as browser local storage, and how you control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
01What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Local storage works similarly, keeping small values in your browser. Both let a site remember things like your preferences, and some help a site understand how visitors use its pages. Some are necessary for the site to work, and some are optional.
02Your Choice Comes First
Nothing optional is set until you accept it. When you first visit, you can accept or decline optional cookies. Until you accept, no analytics or session-recording script is loaded at all. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a decline and do not load them regardless of any other choice.
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Declining does not limit anything you can read on the site.
03Strictly Necessary (no consent required)
These are set by DreamTold, stored in your browser's local storage, and are not used to track you across other sites.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| `wl-cookie-consent` | Remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, so we do not ask again | Until you clear it |
| `dreamtold-theme` | Remembers your light, dark or system theme choice | Until you clear it |
| `dt-missing-terms` | A short local list of dictionary searches that found nothing, so the same term is not reported twice from your browser. Stays on your device | Last 300 terms |
04Analytics and Session Recording (optional, consent based)
These load only after you accept. They are set by the providers named below under their own privacy policies, and the providers control their duration.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| `_ga`, `_ga_G-51ZPBPXFB1` | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes visitors and sessions to count page views | Up to 2 years |
| `_clck`, `CLID` | Microsoft Clarity | Links a visitor to their recording and heatmap data | Up to 1 year |
| `_clsk` | Microsoft Clarity | Joins page views into a single session | 1 day |
What Microsoft Clarity does, stated plainly. Clarity is more than a visit counter. It records your session: mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and the pages you move through, and builds heatmaps from that. We use it to find parts of the site that are confusing or broken. We do not use it to identify individual people.
05Third Parties
When you accept optional cookies, Google and Microsoft may set the cookies listed above under their own privacy policies. Amazon may set cookies if you follow an affiliate link from our site to Amazon, which is governed by Amazon's own policy. See our Affiliate Disclaimer.
DreamTold does not sell your personal information and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
