Three lines, two words

The most common reason people give up on a dream journal is that they try to write the whole dream, find it takes twenty minutes they do not have at 3am, and quit inside a week. This asks for very little on purpose.

Three things worth a sentence:

  1. One image. The single clearest thing you can still see. Not the plot.
  2. One feeling. One word for how it left you. Not what it means, how it felt.
  3. One detail that was odd. The thing that did not belong. People skip this line and it is usually the most useful one later.

Then two that are genuinely one word each, because place and person are what recur most: where it happened, and who was there.

What is inside

91

nightly entries

Five short questions, the same five every morning. About two minutes, and deliberately not more than that.

13

weekly reviews

Every seventh page. This is where the value is, because a single night is almost never interesting and seven read together start to show something.

1

pattern tracker

A single spread for what keeps coming back, week by week. This is the page the seven-night version cannot give you, because a pattern needs longer than a week to show itself.

Plus a short opening on how to use it, a closing page on reading the whole thing back, and one page that tells you plainly what the research does and does not establish. 111 pages in total.

Paper or screen, you get both

One purchase, two forms of the same journal. Use whichever suits the morning.

The PDF

Designed to be printed and kept by the bed with a pen, which is where a dream journal actually works. Real ruled lines, not form fields. Print it as many times as you like. You can also fill it in on screen if you would rather.

The online journal

The same method in your browser, for the mornings when the phone is closer than the notebook. It does a few things paper cannot, like reading your seven feelings back to you as a column at the end of each week.

Everything you write in the online journal stays in your own browser. It is never sent to us and we cannot read it. That also means we cannot recover it for you, so it comes with a backup file you can export and carry between your devices.

The honest part

This will not promise you better recall, and you should be suspicious of anything that does.

Research on dream recall establishes that it varies enormously between people, that the average is low, and that the differences track things like attitude toward dreaming, sleep patterns and age. What it does not establish is that any particular practice, including this one, works for a given person. Plenty of people who keep a dream journal report catching more dreams, and there are sensible reasons why that might be. It has not been demonstrated as a guaranteed result.

What you are guaranteed is the record. Thirteen weeks from now you will have something that did not exist before, in your own words, about your own sleep. Whatever is in it is yours.

Who this is not for

If you want to know what a symbol means, you do not need to buy anything. The A to Z dream dictionary is free and always will be, and so are the guides to individual dreams.

This is not an interpretation product. There is no symbol reference in it, no meanings, and nothing that tells you what your dreams are saying. It is a method for building a record of your own, which is a different thing and a slower one. If you are looking for an answer tonight, read the free pages instead.

And if you are not sure the method suits you, start with the free 7-Night Recall Starter. It is a real slice of this journal rather than a sample of it, and seven nights is enough to find out.

Thirty days, no questions

If it is not what you wanted, ask within thirty days and we refund it. We do not ask what went wrong, though we read it if you tell us, and you keep the file. Thirty rather than the fourteen the law requires, because a brand that argues about nineteen dollars has undone its own position for nineteen dollars. Read the full refund policy.

Questions

What do I actually get?
A 111-page PDF to print or fill in on screen, and access to the same journal online at dreamtold.com. One purchase gets both and you can use either or both.
Will this help me remember more of my dreams?
We will not claim that, and you should be wary of anything that does. Research shows dream recall varies enormously between people and has not established that any particular practice works for everyone. What you are guaranteed is the record: thirteen weeks of your own sleep in your own words.
Is the online version the same as the PDF?
The same method, the same five questions a night, and the same weekly review. The online one adds a few things paper cannot do, like pulling your seven feelings into a column for you at the end of each week.
Where are my online entries stored?
In your own browser, on your own device. They are never sent to us and we cannot read them. That also means we cannot recover them for you, so the journal keeps a backup file you can export and carry between devices.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. It is your file. Print it as many times as you like, for yourself.
What if it is not for me?
Thirty days, no questions, and you keep the file. Asking for a download back is theatre and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Do I need the free starter first?
No, but it is a genuine slice of the same method rather than a trailer for this, so it is a fair way to find out whether the method suits you before paying for thirteen weeks of it.
